Jordan Jinosko's music has been praised by Wisconsin Public Radio for its “subtle and powerful” qualities and its “cinematic scope.” Her compositions draw inspiration from history, mythology, nature, and her experiences as a multiracial, transgender woman. Often Jordan’s music advocates for social causes.

Winner of the Green Dot Composers Competition, the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition, and the Arts Midwest Gig Fund Grant, Jordan Jinosko’s music has been celebrated in the Orchestral Compositions division of the American Prize, the World Entertainment Awards, the Music International Grand Prix, and the Howard Hanson Young Composers Competition. Jordan composed the score for a film by Japanese filmmaker Shun Shigeta, which won the Grand Prix of SONY’s Xperia U25 Film Competition. She also wrote the score for UNFOUND, a film directed by Australian filmmaker Poom Ariyakusonsuthi, which was nominated for Best International Thriller in Toronto’s Alternative Film Festival. In 2023, Jordan’s piece, Three Sketches of Unblemished Earth, was one of two multi-movement works to be selected in The Symphonina Foundation’s Best Symphonina of the Year Competition and was subsequently recorded on the foundation’s album, Advent of the Symphonina; featuring performances by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and other ensembles, this release went on to top Billboard’s chart of Best-selling Classical Albums for the week of August 31st, 2024.

Jordan’s music has been performed in concert halls across the United States and Canada, including the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, the Strathmore Music Center in DC, and Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. Her music has been featured on the radio, on streaming platforms, and at classical music conventions, such as the Midwest Composers Symposium, the Midwest Clinic, the ASTA National Orchestra Festival, and the Interlochen Arts Festival. Her music has also been written about in various newspapers and magazines. Additionally, Avid Technology featured Jordan online as a composer and Sibelius Software user. 

Jordan’s music has been performed by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, Ronnie Sanders (Grammy-winning conductor), Ward Stare (Grammy-winning conductor), Jory Herman (double bassist, LA Phil), David Halen (concertmaster, Saint Louis Symphony), Yibin Li (violin faculty, The Juilliard School), the Ann Arbor Camerata, and others.

Jordan began learning piano at age eight, and, a few years later, she attended a live performance of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Tallis Fantasia, performed by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, that moved her deeply and inspired her to begin writing music.

Jordan studied music composition and music theory at the University of Michigan and the Eastman Community Music School. Her composition mentors have included Michael Daugherty, Bright Sheng, Evan Chambers, Kristen Kuster, and Margaret Henry. She has attended masterclasses with film composers like Paul Chihara and Conrad Pope, and participated in symposia led by faculty at Juilliard, Princeton, Eastman, and Yale.
